Eleven Cities Cycling Tour

Monday, May 31st, 2004

This was just great. I’m really, really broken by now and in a bit of pain. It’s still quite an impression; the amount of people cheering at the side of the 240 kilometres long road, starting from, and back to Bolsward again. Our pink shirts seemed to inflame the crowds ;-) It was quite a bit of work, but I’m very glad I’ve finished.

This day I cycled the the eleven cities tour with five friends, and almost 15,000 other people. Most of them looked professional or at least profound amateur -judging by their gear and outfit-. However, I’ve seen evidence that cycling on a tandem, or carrying a crate of beer on the back of your bike won’t stop you from getting to the finish.

I really like the Frisian backcountry. It’s flat, empty, but still displays a beautiful scenery and is filled with water. I hope I’ll be able to join the tour next year…
