San Francisco & the coastal route
About a year ago, I’ve explored the route between L.A. and San Francisco that leads over the beautiful inland parks (Sequoia, King’s Canyon and Yosemite). This year I was at the same spot, so I took the opportunity to explore the city a bit more and drive the so-called Coastal route…
It all started out with the JavaOne of course. A really nice conference.
Neil Young was there too
(1), and many opportunities to
mingle with people
(2). After 4 days i was a bit tired, but my coastal trip was just getting started.
The first day we took the change to explore Alcatraz,
by boat. It’s a deserted island with
nothing but birds and an unused prison. Well… they probably make good money of the tourists 
We rented a nice car (Chrysler Sebring), and even though San Francisco started off chilly (wear a hat when you open the top), slowly progressing towards L.A. increased the temperatures up till ‘perfectly suitable for a roofless car’…
Of course we had to hike and camp, but I think the inland route from SF to LA has better hiking opportunities.
Once down to LA, Disney Land in Anaheim completed a nice trip!
